There is so much more to a bus than four wheels and a destination.
On the first Sunday of every month, Aycliffe Bus Museum invites you to go Behind the Buses and discover the stories, people, places and memories that make our collection so special.
Join one of our knowledgeable volunteers for a special guided tour of the museum, taking you beyond the displays and closer to the vehicles themselves. Hear the stories behind the buses, learn about the operators who once served communities across the North East and discover how public transport helped shape everyday life.
Whether you are a lifelong bus enthusiast, a local history lover, or simply curious to discover something different, Behind the Buses offers a chance to see the museum from a different perspective.
Each month brings an opportunity to discover something new, with stories drawn from our collection, archives and the memories of the people who travelled, worked and lived alongside these vehicles.
£5 per person
Come along, step inside the story and discover what lies Behind the Buses.
Your £5 admission directly supports Aycliffe Bus Museum and helps us preserve these vehicles, stories and memories for future generations.
Places may be limited, so booking in advance is recommended.
